All That Glitters

Here is my lovely article for Siren magazine, All That Glitters.

I discuss tanning bed use. The piece is full of personal experience, fact, anecdote and gossip. It's very good.

The illustration is by Allan Cavanagh.

Image Daily

Image Publications have launched a brand new stunning website - Image.ie

HERE is a review I wrote for the site on Taschen's new coffee table book, The Architect's Home.

Here are PICTURES from the launch party at the RHA (I'm tiny in the background of one) and here is a VIDEO.

Image Interiors and Living

The latest May/June issue of Image Interiors and Living is on sale in shops. Go get a copy, the cover is gorgeous and really pops on the shelves. I compiled a greta selection of bicycle accessories, a get the look page for a gorgeous house shoot, helped style Jemma Cassidy's home (of Hip Hip), and reviewed Temple House for a Staycation feature.

GAME OF THRONES QUIZ at the Crypt, Christ Church.

I'd never been into the fantasy genre, before Game of Thrones. Nor had I ever felt so emotionally invested in a show. I've squealed at the gore and oogled the titties, felt jealous of Daenerys' hair and her marrying the super sexy Drogo. I also fancy Tyrion Lannister, but I HATE Joffrey. He makes me sick to my stomach. He's such a prick. I think Theon Greyjoy is a prick as well. And Ned Stark was a good honest man. How can they just kill off characters the way they do? It's so upsetting. None of my highly strung emotions are going to win me any points at a table quiz though. I need to nerd up between now and then and sort out one hell of a costume. As Wilde wrote 'If I am occasionally a little over-dressed, I make up for it by being always immensely over-educated.' Also I don't want to let my team down. As Arya Stark said 'Anyone can be killed.'

NINA HYNES at the Peppercanister Church

My mum just called me and asked if this was 'too indie' for her to go to with me. She's considering going to the cinema instead. No way, Mum, c'mon. Well maybeNina Hynes album launch in the Peppercanister Church is a little bit indie. It has made Nialler 9's gig of the week list. I think, more than anything, this is just a rare event, not-to-be-missed. Mrs Hynes, a lady who has been covered by Jane Birkin, mainly lives in Berlin these days so we don't see as much of her, and the venue is certainly very intimate and niche. This will be my first time to experience her performing live and I couldn't imagine a nicer initial encounter. Maybe at her Other Voices performance, where Glen Hansard introduced her as someone who writes songs 'like maps of places where people don't live'. I can't think of being in a room with that, surely that's perfect for anyone.
